Sustainable, reliable and economic feedstock supply examples
Hettenhaus has performed client studies that has identified more than 20 greenfield biorefinery sites and evaluated the potential biomass supply—mostly crop residues—for existing dry and wet corn mill locations. In addition he has presented many papers and presentations on the subject. Examples include
- Biomass Commercialization and Agriculture Residue Collection, Chapter 3.1, Biorefineries, Biobased Industrial Processes and Products Ed: B. Kamm, P. Gruber, M. Kamm, WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. 2006
- Innovative Methods for Collecting, Handling, Storing and Transporting Corns Stover, 2003,

Colloquies
Examples in the public domain include the following:
- Biomass Feedstock Colloquies, for Idaho National Laboratory. Critical issues for supplying biomass feedstocks over the next 3 to 10 years were discussed in seven colloquies held between March and May 2003. The purpose of the sessions was to accelerate the commercialization of corn stover and cereal straw feedstocks for conversion to low cost fermentation sugars for the production of fuels, chemicals and materials.

- Ethanol Logistical Needs for 5 to 10 billion gallon Production--How coastal fuel ethanol markets can be met with transportation from the Midwest, for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
